Carara National Park

This is the northernmost Pacific coastal rain forest remaining intact in Costa Rica, and is the transition zone into the tropical dry forests of the northwest.

This national park is a world-renowned ornithological destination and has extremely diverse birdlife, specifically the scarlet macaw (Ara macao), an endangered species that is the second largest Psittacidae species in Costa Rica. Without a doubt it is one of the main sites in the country for birdwatching.

The location is nearby a great deal of wonderful beaches, waterfalls, restaurants, at only 1,2hrs from Costa Rica’s International Airport. Being on Route 34, provides easy access to all commodities around the area.

Tarcoles River

This river is one of the most well known in the country largely because of the crocodiles. It’s a popular tourist stop for those heading to Jaco, Manuel Antonio and the South Pacific.

The entire river watershed covers over 2000 kilometers (1242 miles) and empties into the Pacific Ocean. Additionally, Tarcoles River begins at the point where two different rivers meet creating the border of the Carara National Park.

If you’re driving, you can park on either side, there are spaces to park in front of the shops or restaurants.
